EMA

Verdict

Not auto-backtested — honestly, we can't. AI-decoded: Intraday NIFTY PE buying on a 4-timeframe 9-EMA bearish alignment + 5M candle touch-and-break signal, 11 AM–1 PM entry window, fixed 2:30 PM exit, ±₹20 premium stop/target.

We give real option backtests only for fixed-entry option-selling structures (weekly credit/ratio spreads) priced on real cached NIFTY premiums. This one is directional option BUYING (needs intraday/tick option data), which needs intraday/tick option data and a chart-signal engine we don't have — so we show no number rather than a misleading proxy. Flagged for a hand-built review.

NIFTY 9-EMA Strategy — Python Backtest Rules 1. Instrument & Time * Underlying: NIFTY 50 * Entry chart: 5-minute * Trade: Buy ATM NIFTY PE for sell signals. * Entry window: 11:00 AM–1:00 PM IST (no entries at or after 1:00 PM). * Maximum: One entry per day. * Mandatory exit: Close any open position by 2:30 PM IST. No overnight holding. 2. Four 9 EMAs Calculate 9-period EMAs on NIFTY candles for: * 5-minute * 15-minute * 30-minute * 1-hour Sell alignment: 5M EMA < 15M EMA < 30M EMA < 1H EMA. 3. Sell Entry Conditions 1. All four EMAs must be bearishly aligned. 2. A bullish 5-minute candle must touch the 5M EMA. A wick touch is sufficient. 3. A subsequent bearish 5-minute candle must close below the 5M EMA. 4. Both candles must qualify within the entry window, and confirmation must occur before 1:00 PM. 5. After confirmation, buy the nearest ATM NIFTY PE at the next executable price. 4. Stop-Loss & Take-Profit Based on option premium per unit: * SL: Entry premium − ₹20 * TP: Entry premium + ₹20 If neither is hit, exit at 2:30 PM. Include slippage and transaction costs. 5. Trade Restrictions * Only one entry per trading day, even if SL or TP is hit early. * Reset the entry counter each trading day. * No new entries after 1:00 PM. * Close all open positions by 2:30 PM. 6. Backtest Requirements * Use completed candles only; avoid look-ahead bias. * Use historical NIFTY option prices and correct strike/expiry data. * If SL and TP are both crossed in one candle and their order is unknown, assume SL first. * Record every trade in CSV. 7. Required Statistics Report total trades, win rate, net P&L, profit factor, maximum drawdown, average win/loss, expectancy, SL/TP/time-based exits, monthly performance, and transaction costs. Still to configure: Option expiry selection, position size, historical data source, and cost/slippage assumptions. Scope: Version 1 tests only the sell setup. The buy-side entry rules are not yet defined.
