Verdict

Not backtestable — no mechanical strategy to test. Gann-level breakout strategy on NIFTY 15-min candles; uses pre-calculated integer-square price levels as entries/targets/stops — mechanical but not a standard archetype (custom Gann-based, not trend-f

We only score videos that teach a rule-based strategy (a defined entry trigger, stop and exit a computer could follow). This one doesn't contain one, so there is nothing to backtest — we show no number rather than a made-up one.

Backtest this as a fully mechanical intraday strategy on NIFTY 50 SPOT, using 15-minute candles. 1. Gann Level Calculation At the beginning of each trading day, calculate Gann price levels from the previous trading day's NIFTY closing price. 1. Take the previous day's closing price. 2. Calculate its square root. 3. Use the nearest natural-number/integer levels around that square root. 4. Square those integers to obtain the major Gann price levels. For example, if the previous close is 24,850: sqrt(24,850) ≈ 157.64 Use the surrounding integers 157 and 158: 157² = 24,649 158² = 24,964 These are the relevant Gann levels for the day. Also calculate the next adjacent integer levels where required: 156², 157², 158², 159², etc. The strategy therefore uses integer-square price levels, rather than fractional square-root levels. 2. Trading Session Trade NIFTY SPOT on 15-minute candles. Do not take new trades during the first 15 minutes of the trading day. Trade entries only between 09:30 and 15:00 IST. Force-close any open position at 15:15 IST. No overnight positions. 3. Long Entry A long trade is generated when a 15-minute candle crosses above a Gann level. Conditions: 1. The candle opens at or below the Gann level. 2. The candle closes above the Gann level. 3. The candle must be a bullish candle (Close > Open). Enter LONG at the next candle's open. 4. Short Entry A short trade is generated when a 15-minute candle crosses below a Gann level. Conditions: 1. The candle opens at or above the Gann level. 2. The candle closes below the Gann level. 3. The candle must be a bearish candle (Close < Open). Enter SHORT at the next candle's open. 5. Stop Loss Use a fixed 0.20% stop loss from the entry price. For LONG: Stop = Entry × (1 − 0.002) For SHORT: Stop = Entry × (1 + 0.002) 6. Profit Target / Exit Use the next Gann level in the direction of the trade as the initial profit target. For a LONG trade, the target is the next higher integer-square Gann level. For a SHORT trade, the target is the next lower integer-square Gann level. Exit at whichever occurs first: - Stop loss - Next Gann level target - 15:15 IST forced intraday exit 7. Position Management Ignore these restrictions: - There is NO requirement to have only one position at a time. - A Gann level CAN generate another trade after a previous trade has been completed. However, do not enter multiple times from the same signal candle. A new signal can be generated whenever another 15-minute candle independently satisfies the entry conditions. 8. Important Backtest Requirements Use actual historical NIFTY 50 SPOT 15-minute OHLC data. Include realistic Indian transaction costs, brokerage and applicable taxes/charges. Report: - Total trades - Net P&L - CAGR/annualised return - Win rate - Average win - Average loss - Profit factor - Expectancy per trade - Maximum drawdown - Maximum consecutive losses - Average holding time - Year-by-year P&L - Number of long trades and short trades separately - Long win rate and short win rate separately Also report whether the strategy remains profitable when transaction costs are included. Do not optimise the parameters. Use exactly the rules above.
